美國野生動物學家萊特（Bruce Wright）於1938年與最後一頭東部美洲獅的標本合影。




東部美洲獅 Eastern Cougar


東部美洲獅是美洲獅（又稱山獅）的亞種，分布在美國密西西比河以東多個洲。東部美洲獅原被分類為「瀕臨絕種」，後來因長達80年未見蹤跡，在2018年將其狀態改為「滅絕」。

美洲獅除了會襲擊家畜以外，其毛皮具有價值，因而遭到人類大量獵殺，使其數量不斷減少。東部美洲獅滅絕後，美國東部缺乏大型肉食性動物來維持野生食物網的平衡，鹿科物種數量過剩，還會帶來威脅人類健康的蜱蟲疾病。學者建議應重新引入美洲獅，同時呼籲國家加強保護牠們。

Ｑ：什麼是熨燙刺繡？

刺繡後有背膠，可使用熨斗將刺繡燙於衣物、帆布袋、帽子......等處。使用步驟如下：

1. 取下背面固定用綠色黏土
2. 將熨燙貼放置於固定位置後，先覆蓋一層手帕厚度的布，避免刺繡及衣物因高溫受損
3. 將熨斗調至最高溫，按壓熨燙30秒以上，直至邊角完全貼合表面
4. 待熨燙刺繡冷卻後即可使用

＊不可使用蒸氣熨斗
＊勿燙印於尼龍、絲綢、防水材質、毛衣、含羽絨之衣物
＊勿讓兒童獨自操作


亦可搭配棲息地帆布包，將喜歡的動物熨燙在生態圖中，創造屬於自己的一幅畫。
