位於非洲最南端的弗洛爾角於2004年被列入聯合國教科文組織世界遺產名單，由超過9000種植物組成令人目不暇給的花海，其中69%為地方特有植物，1736種被歸類為瀕臨絕種，是一處受到南非特遣部隊保護的珍貴區域。

可惜，就連軍隊和植物學家也無法阻止氣候變遷、工業以及外來種入侵所帶來的破壞，因此弗洛爾角也是植物滅絕速度最快的地區之一。
