Isaac Newton, who formulated the universal law of gravitation and the three laws of motion, was well-known for his love of cats and dogs. It is said that he ever cut a small hole in his door for his cherished cat. This made him become the inventor of pet door. He had an old dog called "Diamond". It made history when it inadvertently delayed Isaac Newton's publishing of his paper on the law of universal gravitation for an entire year.
Originally, the paper was almost ready and Newton also contacted various scholars to prepare to publish it. A visitor happened to come on the night before the meeting where he prepared to present his paper. When he got up from his desk to see who was knocking at the door,Diamond somehow suddenly jumped onto his desk and knocked over the lit candle. The candle set fire to the paper and reduced his hard work to ashes.
This was really a too big blow, causing him to spiral into depression that he took weeks to recover from. Luckily, he did not blame Diamond at that time. It seemed that the old dog was more important to him than his paper after all. With the dog as a companion, he put himself together and rewrote the paper. He eventually published his law on universal gravity successfully.
